This collection contains a draft manuscript and notebook created in the making of the book Land of the Post Rock: Its Origins, History, and People. This book is about the region of North-Central Kansas where limestone rocks were used as fenceposts. The collection documents the research and editing of the book, which itself explores the regional geography, geology, and history of the post rock and how it shaped the development of the region. The collection also contains notes of oral histories conducted by the authors in the researching for the book.

Biographical / Historical

Grace Muilenburg and Ada Swineford are the authors of the Book Land of the Post Rock: Its Origins, History, and People. Grace Muilenburg was associate professor at Kansas State University's College of Agriculture, and has also served as public-relations director for the State Geological Survey of Kansas. Ada Swineford was professor of geology at Western Washington State College, as well as a staff member of the State Geological Survey of Kansas. Swineford was also the editor of Clays and Clay Minerals: Proceedings of the National Clay Conferences. Swineford also taught clay minerology at the University of Kansas.
