Hackler Family Collection
Content Description
This collection contains materials relating to the Mullendore and Hackler families in Kansas. This includes photographs, correspondences, certificates and numerous holiday cards. The collection also contains a few books, textual records, handkerchiefs, and ephemera. This collection largely concerns family life and culture around the turn of the century and early 20th century, as well as farm work, womens' health, and pregnancy care.

Biographical / Historical
Thomas Henry Hackler was a clerk with the Santa Fe Railroad and who lived in Hutchinson, Kansas and Dodge City, Kansas with his wife, Sarah Poole. Hackler was born around 1871 in Johnson County, and retired in Dodge City, where he lived for 25 years. Hackler and Poole had three children; Della Hackler, Margaret Hackler, and Alfred Hackler. Charley Mullendore was a farm worker and was married to Della Hackler, and Margaret Hackler was married to Gilbert McCart. Sarah Poole was born in Washington County, Iowa in 1872 and died in 1931 in Dodge City. Thomas Henry Hackler died in 1944 in Dodge City.
