Etrick Photograph Collection

 Collection — Box: B45
Identifier: KHC-199

Scope and Contents

This collection contains a variety of photographs either taken or owned by members of the Etrick family, some of which were used in the printing business, while others may not have been. Though some of the context of these images is missing, they present a documentary picture of Dodge City in the late 19th and early 20th century, including several buildings and businesses which no longer exist.

Provenance

Most of the context surrounding the images here and their creation is unknown, and a connection to the Etrick family was largely based on the inclusion of images with edits made as part of the printing business, and their discovery in the DCPL's KHC in 2022 in a box labelled Etrick Photos. Some photographs found in this donation were clearly not created by the Etricks or their printing company, and have been separated into their own collections to better demonstrate their origin (see, for example, the V.V. Ragland Collection).
