This collection contains studio photographs taken at Burrell's Studio (also identified as S.A. Burrell) in Dodge City, Kansas. These photographs show Abbie Dodge and Ida Behl, who were both a part of Dodge City public schools' graduating class of 1898.

Biographical / Historical

Samuel August "Gust" Burrell was a photographer who owned and operated a photography studio in Dodge City from roughly 1890 to the early 1900s. He was born in Pennsylvania in 1867 and after graduating from Indiana University Bloomington in the 1880s, he arrived in Dodge City around 1885, where he worked as a school teacher. He owned and operated a photography studio in Dodge from around 1890 to his departure for California in the early 1900s.
