The Illustrated American
Scope and Contents
This collection contains one copy of The Illustrated American, a "pictorial monthly magazine devoted to everything American." This collection contains a copy of the July 1900 issue, which covers the Republican National Convention in Philadelphia, in which William McKinley was selected as the Republican Party's nominee with Theodore "Teddy" Roosevelt selected as his running mate. The issue has photographs of the candidates, the convention, and the various delegates at the convention from around the country. There are also editorials on the United States Navy, America's interest in China, the New York University Hall of Fame for Great Americans, Hackensack, New Jersey, and the estate of Sheffield Phelps. There is also a section of the magazine on "Successful Americans," with articles on Frederick Easton, J. Overton Paine, and Ira Andrus Kip, Jr.
