This collection contains materials related to the Independent Order of Odd Fellows in Ford County, Kansas. These materials include record books, letters, and certificates related to the Corono Lodge in Dodge City, and the Spearville Lodge in Spearville, Kansas. Biographical / Historical
The Independent Order of Odd Fellows (IOOF) is an international fraternal organization originating in Baltimore, Maryland in 1819, with earlier Odd Fellows lodges extending back at least to the mid 18th century in England. In Dodge City the local Odd Fellows lodge was known as Corona Lodge, which was established in 1878. A lodge also existed in Spearville for a number of years in the 1910s and 1920s.
