Biographical / Historical

The Dodge City Area Piano Teachers League (DCAPTL) was an organization of piano teachers that was started by Thelma Hill and Sister Agnes Theresa in 1958. This organization allowed for piano teachers in Dodge City and Ford County to get together, share ideas, and develop as music teachers. The DCAPTL also afforded students opportunities to learn and play piano through lessons, masterclasses, festivals, and recitals. On several occasions the DCAPTL also organized Mass Piano Festivals, in which many students played music on multiple pianos at the same time. A music degree was not necessary for members of the DCAPTL, which only required that members be piano teachers and believe in high professional standards. The League dissolved sometime around 2007.
